High on Sparta Mountain, at the head waters of the Weldon Brook, sits the coldest spot in Jefferson Township. At around 1,300 feet above sea level, this swampy area is consistently 5 to 10 degrees cooler then the valleys of the township, earning it the nickname of Jefferson's ice box. The beauty of the jewel like quality the only ice in Jefferson Township adds the landscape makes this spot unique. (PHOTO - ANTHONY LAWSON)
