The festivities included fireworks, sparrklers, dancing and tremendous Indian decorations of clay lamps, Ganeshas, candles, ranglois(colorful decorations on the floors. card games, drinking and eating. The festival of light commemorates homecoimg of Lord Rama on a moonless night, after 14 years in exile. It also is the begining of the Hindu new year when Goddess laxmi is welcomed into all homes by decorating homes and keeping them clean and well lit .
